Coastal Fun for the Family Experience all of this and lots more at our education and research center, which is dedicated to fostering the understanding of the Atlantic coastal region's natural resources.


Coastal Bird After your first visit we think you will appreciate just how unique and valuable coastal wetlands are. You'll want to come back every year!

Located near Stone Harbor and Historic Cape May,The Wetlands Institute is situated on 6,000 acres of coastal wetlands. We marsh and nearby upland and barrier islands are the living laboratory where more than 40,000 visitors each year learn about life on this thin ribbon between land and sea.


EDUCATION
Our focus is education and research. So we want you to have fun as you explore our exhibits, observation tower and nature trails. From salt water aquaria to our beautiful gardens brimming with birds and butterflies, we offer a variety of exciting features and programs that let you make the most of your visit.

School field trips or family outings, visitors to the Wetlands can choose from guided tours, summer programs and much more!
RESEARCH
Research space is available for visiting scientists. Over the years, many different and important studies have been conducted at the Institute on such topics as beach erosion, the preservation of terrapins and surveys of wildlife-underwater and on land.


VOLUNTEERS
We Love Them !! Every year, lots of people help out as guides at special events and in the shops and labs.
